About Wiley
I’m Wiley Lulfs. My work in web development has evolved with the internet itself, from early online communities and first-generation websites to today’s custom platforms, APIs, social media connections and digital business systems. I still build hands-on, but I also keep looking ahead at how new tools and technologies can make the next project better.
I started building online in 1996, during the modem days, and I’ve been creating, rebuilding and experimenting ever since. Over the years that has included online communities, real estate platforms, live streaming, photography, social media, domain development, marketing systems and the technical work required to keep all of it connected.
I like being involved from the original idea through the finished product. I can work through the strategy, write the content, create the photography, build the website, connect the systems and then keep improving what works.
More than websites
I’ve enjoyed collaborating with others on web projects, while much of my career has also been spent creating, building and developing my own. That has forced me to think about more than whether a page looks good. I have had to think about audience, usability, revenue, moderation, search visibility, hosting, maintenance and what happens after something launches.
I’m also a photographer, a licensed Florida real estate professional and a longtime musician and stage performer. Those may look unrelated on paper, but they all involve the same things: understanding an audience, paying attention to details, solving problems in real time and knowing when presentation matters.
I still enjoy the actual work. I am just as comfortable discussing the business idea as I am digging into PHP, an API, a domain problem, a community issue or why a page simply is not doing what it should.
Websites, custom development, communities, APIs, domains, hosting, SEO, data, payments and the systems behind them.
Events, conventions, real estate, marine photography, live streaming and visual content built around a practical purpose.
A Florida real estate license and years of building property, relocation and consumer information platforms give me a useful perspective from both sides of the screen.
Years as a professional drummer and stage performer taught me a lot about timing, audiences, presentation and staying useful when things do not go exactly as planned.
How I work
Start with what the project actually needs.
Build from the ground up when that produces the better solution.
Keep the structure understandable and maintainable.
Connect creative, technical and business decisions instead of treating them separately.
Launch it, watch what happens and keep improving it.
That’s probably enough about me.
If you have something that needs to be built, fixed, connected or simply figured out, I’m happy to take a look.
